Missing/At-Risk Adult Found
Fatima Shah is a 26 year old with the mental age of 6.
Fatima walked away from her group home on Friday,
August 28. The group home is located on Valdivia
Drive. The manager of the group home contacted the
Sheriff’s Department at 7:45 a.m. The investigation
determined that Fatima left the home sometime around
midnight and was seen by a neighbor walking down the
street carrying a bag. Police Services conducted a
thorough search of the area and could not locate her. A
bulletin was quickly completed by the Sheriff’s Crime
Analysis Unit, with Fatima’s picture and identifying
information. It was sent to all Orange County police
agencies, as well as the media. The deputies distributed
the flyers to all the businesses in the north end of the
city. A Command Post was set up on Valdivia to
coordinate the search effort. Police services conducted
a door-to-door search of the surrounding
neighborhoods and the Sheriff’s Explorers were
brought in to assist with the search.
Fatima’s father lives in Irvine and on Saturday morning
at 8:00 she arrived at his residence. She was unharmed
and said she had received a car ride to Irvine from a
man and a woman. She could not find her father’s
residence so she slept in an unknown field. She was
taken to Mission Hospital for a medical check-up. The
Orange County Adult Protective Services Unit
responded and assisted with the placement of Fatima in
a more secure group home in Garden Grove.
